Bridgewater State College (BSC) is spending a planning year in a deeply engaged process of collecting and analyzing data on the demographics, experiences, successes, and challenges of students of color. The Community of Practice, including key faculty and administrators, is seeking to understand more keenly the influences affecting the success of this group, and where these factors overlap and diverge from the factors affecting low-income and first-generation students. Shared readings and visiting speakers help the group plan interventions that can measurably improve the retention and graduation rates of students of color, and their experience of success at BSC.
