 Grant M. Ingle served as Director of the Office of Human Relations at the University of Massachusetts Amherst for 18 years until 2005. In that role he was responsible for monitoring and responding to community, diversity and social justice issues on a campus of 30,000 students, staff and faculty. His last major project on the campus, the Community, Diversity and Social Justice Initiative (http://www.umass.edu/ohr/cdsj), was a long-term, assessment-driven, campus-wide effort to create a more inclusive campus climate for all its members. A former member of NERCHE’s Multicultural Affairs Think Tank, Grant continues his long-term private practice with an interest in improving change management practices in higher education, especially regarding community, diversity and social justice issues. He consults to campuses in these areas, coaches higher education administrators, and is a frequent presenter on campuses and at conferences. Recently, Grant wrote the feature article for NERCHE’s Spring 2007 newsletter entitled “Taking Stock Together: Diversity and Change in New England Colleges and Universities.”
KerryAnn has a long-time connection to NERCHE, having written two working papers and worked on several projects over the years. Most recently, she developed NERCHE Brief # 20: “Graduate Education and Civic Engagement.” She is currently working alongside Alan Bloomgarden of Smith College on a research project examining the work and professional lives of engaged faculty using information on Lynton Award nominees and award winners.
